Plot

S1, E1: You're Not a True Comrade

Red searches mountains for Blood Needle herbs to save Tanta. REd uses the skills Endurance Mastery: Fatigue Immunity, High-Speed Mastery: Lightning Speed which he wants to keep secret from the Zoltan locals in order to maintain his hidden abilities. His journey to find the herbs are thwarted by Albert who started a forest fire to kill the Owl Bear. Red dispatched the Owl Bear quickly and fled with the herbs. Albert and company find the owl bear corpse; Albert is inclined to take credit. Gonz thanks Red. Red asks Gonz a favor: to build his apothecary provided Red supplies the materials.

Four months pass; Rit visits Zoltan. Red has opened an apothecary. Megria brags to Rit about abilities that she believes he wants to keep secret. Red celebrates the opening of his apothecary with the villagers.

S1, E2: The Princess Who Didn't Join the Hero's Party

Red is worried that his medicines will expire due to lack of customers to his apothecary. Rit recognizes Red as Gideon. Rit thinks Red chose "Red" because it sounds like "Rit"; she fancies Red. Rit is aghast that the Hero's party ejected him. Red claims Ruti is fine after hearing Ruti defeated Gandor. Red serves Rit tea. Red recalls meeting Rit in Alonor, south of Loggervia.

Red and Rit reminisce about past events in which Rit offered Gideon intelligence. Rit and Gideon deduce the presence of a Demon Lord army plot involving logging traffic discrepancies in Loggervia.

Red and Rit recall fighting Shisandan who devoured Rit's master. Gideon followed Rit and saved her from being outright killed. Gideon and Rit hold up against Shisandan until Ruti, the Hero arrives to curb stomp Shisandan. Rit is disheartened by the death of her Loggervia comrades who nearly all died before Ruti could save her, Rit. Gideon helps motivate Rit to fight for Loggervia so that the Hero doesn't take all of her Duchy's credit.

Rit volunteers to be Red's employee ("Red and Rit's Apothecary"). Red shares his idea of a multiplying potion which multiplies the quantity of any potion by five. His other idea is to sell a less addictive pain killer he developed. Red reluctantly accepts Rit's help, albeit for little compensation. Rit seems to want compensation in the form of moving in with Red. Red is surprised that Rit wants to move in.

Ares introduces Tisse, an Assassin to the Hero's Party as a replacement to Gideon. Danan and Theodora introduce themselves to Tisse as members of the Hero's party.

S1, E3: Let's Start Our Quiet Life Together

Red wakes up next to Rit. Rit and Red eat breakfast together. Rit proposes a salary for herself of 30 perills per month; Red judges this to be a reasonable salary for live-in help.

Red and Rit go shopping for a bed at Stormy's shop.

Red describes Blessing system. Lists Strategist, General, and Thief blessings. Red describes that the only way to level up a blessing is to slay someone who possesses a Blessing.

Red saves Tanta from being killed by a kid named Ademi. Tanta introduces Red to Al, Tanta's friend. Red reassures Al that a Blessing can be controlled.

Red and Rit attempt to get approval for the less addictive painkiller from a local merchant named Dan but Dan rejects their proposal out-of-hand. Dan's superior explains to Red and Rit that Dan is in the middle of cleaning up a mess caused by a new painkiller Dan recently approved being highly addictive. Dan's superior approves Red's painkiller anyway.

Danan complains to Ares for lack of progress in finding the lost weapon of the Demon Lord. Ruti asks Danan to find Gideon.

S1, E4: Of Mead and Motives

Red and Rit wake up in the same bedroom. Red enjoys watching Rit wake up. Rit asks for mead. Red sends Rit to get honey. Albert enter's Red's apothecary and demands to know if Red slew the owl bear (S1 E1); Red denies it, claiming, as the rest of the town believes, that Albert slew it. Albert, knowing he didn't slay it, believes the owl bear was slain by Red's dull bronze sword. Albert threatens to slice open Red's neck to intimidate Red into confessing; Rit, seeing Red threatened, nearly kills Albert and breaks Albert's sword; Red stops Rit. Albert flees. Red demonstrates extreme agility in the encounter, saving the honey from spilling.

Red and Rit decide to get a 2-person bath. Red recommends a sauna.

Red, Storm, and Gonz visit a sauna. They enter an endurance contest. Storm and Gonz needle Red about living with Rit yet not having sex. Gonz is the first to lose.

Zanta's mother, Red, Storm, Gonz, and Rit relax outside the sauna and talk with the proprietor about another larger sauna in a larger city which is likely to put Zeff's sauna out of business. Red, Rit, and Zanta's mother brainstorm ways to save Zeff's sauna; Red comes up with the idea of hanging potpourri herb bags in the sauna so healing herbs can please and repair the bodies of customers.

Red runs a test run with the herbs. Nao and Rit join him to Red's embarrassment. Red eventually faints due to Nao and Rit complimenting him, exposing his naked body to both of them.

At the end of the day while returning to the apothecary, Rit confesses that she wanted mead because in Loggervia newlyweds traditionally spend a month relaxing and drinking mead together. Red offers no response except to remind Rit that they were returning to the apothecary.

S1, E5: The Amber Bracelet

Galatine, a senior Adventurer's Guild representative, arrives at Red's apothecary early one morning. Ministers from Loggervia attempt to convince Rit back into the Adventurer's Guild but she refuses. Red is approached by a Thieves Guild representative who offers an elven coin worth 10,000 perill and contacts for acquiring beautiful women for Red but Red refuses, saying Rit is worth a thousand elven coins.

Somewhere else a Thieves guild leader hires Dir, a cloaked bald human to use "It's weakness" to convince her to return to the Adventurer's Guild because she is less disruptive to Thieves Guild activities there.

Rit reminisces about a time when she and Red traveled to the duchy if Sunland to seek assistance in the war against the Demon Lord army; specifically, she remembered following Red's advice to travel through The Bewitching Woods in order to bypass the Demons Lord front lines. There, she remembers Red being greeted by Yarandrala, a close friend of Red's. Ruti (the Hero), Gideon, Yarandrala, Ares, and a team of mercenaries Ares hired to protect them, then travel through the Bewitching Woods. While camping overnight in the forest to rest, Yarandrala takes a bath with Rit; Ares protests at stopping but is overruled by Gideon who points out that they're following Yarandrala's lead. Yarandrala reassures Rit that she doesn't romantically desire Gideon like she can see Rit does; Yarandrala shares that she once romantically desired people like Gideon in the past but the difference in lifespans between her race (elves) and Gideon (human) means she won't fall in love with Gideon. However, Yarandrala does wish for Gideon to have a happy quiet life and that she thinks Rit could help make that happen for Gideon. The morning after, the party finds that the Demon Lord army is waiting at the exit of the Bewitching Woods. Ares notifies the party that the probably cause was an intelligence leak from his mercenaries; to fix the immediate problem, Gideon proposes to lure away the Demon Lord's army so that Ruti and Rit can advance in and attack from a strategic position; Rit nearly joined Gideon but Ruti coldly commanded Rit not to follow Gideon. Also, the local Duchy of Sunland, in response to seeing the movement of the Demon Lord's army, positioned a large number of troops nearby, so, they are able to lend assistance to the party once notified. Somehow, Ruti, Rit, and the Sunland army are able to fight and defeat the Demon Lord's army. Rit parts ways with the Hero's Party who advanced in a different direction while she, Rit, was obligated to help rebuild Loggervia.

In the present, Gideon reminds daydreaming Rit that Rit had a delivery to pick up. Rit leaves for town where she is met by Dir. Dir attempts to blackmail Rit by threatening to announce to Loggervia that Rit is in Zoltan. Rit calls Dir's bluff and lets him know she really doesn't care, since she has decided to make Red and Rit Apothecary her future.

Meanwhile, in the desert encampment of the remainder of the Hero's party, Hero Ruti sits awake, unable to sleep due to her Blessing. She remembers when Ares told her that Gideon had left of his own free will in order to act as a forward scout in enemy territory but that was okay since he, Ares, was still here to comfort her; Ares then proceeds to nervously touch an unemotional unresponsive Ruti. While being touched, Ruti deduces that Ares had manipulated Gideon into leaving; immediately Ruti breaks free of her emotional suppression and one-shots Ares, sending him and a cloud of gore across the room. Ruti then heals Ares and tells him that she still needs Ares to fulfill her duty.

S1, E6: The Rampage Begins

Red delivers medical supplies to Dr. Newman. Both hear a commotion outside Newman's office. They find Jackson unconscious and surrounded by broken materials, some of which includes some kind of white powdered medicine. Red offers an antidote made of grey starfish grass; Red explains he has mastered the First Aid common skill and so knows the antidote will be effective. Red and Dr. Newman recognize the white powder Jackson was handling as a recently introduced narcotic; they deduce that Jackson had been suffering symptoms of an overdose.

Red makes Rit an omelette breakfast. They discuss the overdose; Rit informs Red that the new drug is gaining popularity among adventurers; users say the drug makes them feel like "a new person". Suddenly, a bloody man flees into the apothecary and collapses. While Red treats the man, Rit goes into town to see try and find the source of trouble. Rit encounters several mad adventurers and a group of insert bodies; the mad adventurers engage her in battle. Rit is able to quickly disable all but one. However, before Rit is able to disable the last adventurer, an axe-wielder, Albert headshots all the mad adventurers with rapid fire from a crossbow; the mad adventurers were his party members. Rit asks why Albert killed them and Albert feigns ignorance, asking Rit to get Red to heal one survivor. Rit prepares to kill Albert but unequips her weapons, telling Albert that dropping her weapon is how she responds to her Blessing urging her to kill.

Ruti and the Hero's party explore the desert. Tisse asks Ruti when Ruti sleeps; Ruti shares that the Hero's Blessing obviates the desire for sleep as it does most status conditions that would impede the Hero's combat capabilities, including emotion or comfort. As if to reinforce this point, a sandstorm arises, causing Tisse to squint her eyes due to whipping currents of sand and air; in contrast, Ruti remains standing as she did before the sandstorm, eyes wide open with her face looking coldly neutral.

Later, Rit and Red, while relaxing outside their Apothecary, review news from a newspaper about the killings. News reports don't indicate any autopsy details. Rit says she believes the new drug causing the earlier mentioned overdoses enhanced the strength of Campbell who wielded an axe against her. Red agrees since Campbell had a Thieves' Blessing which would induce them to use light weapons which excludes axe use. Kanta and Al, local elf kids, visit, so Red invites them to lunch. While eating spaghetti, Al mentions they felt anxiety from their Weapon Master Blessing; Red deduces that Al feels anxious since Al hasn't found a weapon skill to master; Al, wanting to continue living a peaceful life, consciously doesn't want to have their personality changed; Al wishes they had the Warrior Blessing instead, which Red notes is one of the more mundane Blessings. Red suggests mastering the knife since such a small weapon can also have utility in many civilian professions like Al's father's work as Dockworker.

A member of Albert's party, Ria, visits the Apothecary, apologizing for Albert's rude behavior to Rit. Ria confesses that Albert has been taking on very difficult quests for the Adventurer's Guild lately and therefore Ria believes Albert, with his Champion Blessing, may decide to soon leave Zoltan in search of greater deeds to accomplish; Ria seems sad at the prospect of Albert leaving. Red reassures Ria, saying that he believes that Albert wants to be a Champion of Zoltan and therefore is unlikely to leave anytime soon. Red explains in an aside to himself that the Champion's Blessing drives a person to try and accomplish great feats in order to be remembered in history.

In a bar somewhere, Danan, the martial art specialist of the Hero's party, drinks in a bar. Danan is approached by a man named Bui who asks if Danan is searching for Gideon since they also are searching for them.

At the Apothecary, stormy weather approaches. Red says the weather forecast indicates the storm will peak in the morning on the next day. Red prepares a drink of milk and honey for Rit. Red mentions that this drink was the favorite of Ruti. Rit wonders how Ruti is doing. Red mentions Ruti was last rumored to be in the Bloodsand Desert.

Red remembers sheltering in common building during a storm with Ruti when they were children. Red asks if Ruti feels scared; Ruti coldly asks for clarification: scared of the thunder, the lightning, or the possibility that the building will collapse and crush everyone inside? Red clarifies to ask if Ruti was scared of anything; Ruti replies that she wasn't. Red asks Ruti to hold Ruti's hand to which Ruti complies. Red thanks her to which Ruti asks why thanks was needed. Red replies that he didn't want to hold Ruti's hand because he was scared, but because it caused Ruti to smile which caused himself to feel happy enough to smile, for which he was grateful to Ruti. Red explains that sometimes people ask to do things for no reason. Ruti asks Red to do something for no reason; Red gives permission and Ruti hugs Red from behind; Ruti confesses she loves Red; Red responds saying he loves her too. Ruti asks if Red would stay with him forever; Red says he cannot promise that since he plans to become a knight so he can fight alongside her. However, if Ruti feels like not doing something, he will help however he can; Red promises to visit Ruti on his days off.

Back in the present, Dr. Newman interrupts Red's reminiscence by knocking on the front door, having hauled a bloodied Al to the front door of the Apothecary.

S1, E7: The Chaos After the Storm

Dr. Newman says Al suffered an injury that embedded small stones into his wound. Al wakes up and says Ademi attacked his mother and father with an axe. Red arrives at Al's house and finds Al's parents unconscious but alive with no obvious bloody wounds, just blunt force trauma. Red summarizes a political situation in which Al's parents are being used by Bighawk, a Thieves' Guild official, as protest symbols against Ademi's father, Moen, the captain of the guard, for failing to produce Ademi, the suspect, presumably because Ademi is Moen's son. Al stays with Red and Rit for the time being. Al wishes to learn how to sield a sword. Rit provides Al with a tutorial sparring session with real weapons. Rit is anxious about teaching Al since her late master, Gaius, taught her that a Blessing may teach the mechanics of swordfighting but not the philosophy. Red reassures Rit, saying he believes Al's needs are met (Baltakatei: presumably because Rit is already teaching Al a good philosophy by her peaceful way of life maintained despite her powerful Blessing). Red and Rit feel eachother intimately as they relax on a bench in front of the Apothecary but are interrupted by Tanta's parents, Gonz and Nao who say Tanta has been abducted by town guards; Al, listening nearby, demands to get involved to help Tanta.

Red, Rit, and Al request assistance from Galatine of the Adventurer's Guild to help recover Tanta from the town guards. Galatine pressures Rit to provide assistance as the Champion Rit, a role Rit has actively worked to avoid since she joined Red's apothecary; Rit refuses. Galatine agrees to help Nao and her husband Mido retrieve their son, Tanta. (Baltakatei: Mido has not been named until now.)

Red, Rit, Al, and Mido talk to the guard captain Moen who releases Tanta to Mido and Nao. Moen says his men believe Ademi, Moen's son, was killed by a Southmarsh resident. Moen says the men responsible for the deadly mad adventurer attack (which Albert put an end to by killing them, his party members) were from Southmarsh. Moen suspects Al didn't actually see Ademi attack Al's parents; Al vehemently reaffirms he saw Ademi attack Al's parents. Moen says he and the other town guards (who he admits dote on Ademi) suspect Al's parents faked their injuries since he doesn't believe Ademi would have wielded an axe; instead Moen believes someone from Southmarsh, the origin of the other mad adventurers, is responsible for the attack. Tanta says he doesn't believe Ademi would have normally attacked since, after his own run-in with Ademi's rage, Ademi had returned and apologized for his violent behavior, saying his Bar Brawler Blessing caused him to be violent; Tanta claimed that Ademi wanted to become a townsguard (Template:Bk4: Like his father, Moen) who protects townspeople, not hurts them.

Tanta, Al, Mido, and Nao depart, but Red and Rit stay in Moen's office to continue a discussion. Moen asks for Rit to help; Rit says she'll listen. Before Moen can complete his request, Red asks Moen if Ademi may have used the new addictive narcotic. Moen violently denies Red's allegation, saying he warned Ademi in strong terms to not use such substances. Red reasserts his supposition that Ademi may have suffered some drug-induced effect since Ademi's suspected behavior matches the violence of Campbell and the other mad adventurers. Moen says no one nearby has the Appraisal skill to examine the drug and its effects, but, upon suggestion by Red, Moen suspects the drug might have the ability to grant users another Blessing.

Al returns to the Apothecary where a monocle-wearing long-haired man with dark purple hair, dark skin, and brown eyes starts a conversation with Al. (Baltakatei: Note: Monocle is named as "Godwin" by Tisse in S1E9)

Red returns to the Apothecary without Rit and invites Al to a sparring session. Red knocks Al off his feet with a broom; Red says Al was vulnerable due to anger he felt. After sparring, Al asks Red why he remains a D-ranked adventurer when his skills make him obviously capable of achieving great feats. Red responds that he simply wants to live a simple life, helping those close to him; Red asserts that "Just because you're good at something doesn't mean you have to rise in stature.". Red admits that he could live and die by the sword in order to make a name for himself, saying that would not be a bad life; but he simply chooses a different life. Al informs Red that someone he believes was from the Thieves' Guild (the monocle-wearing man) visited earlier and gave Al a sword intended for Weapon Masters, saying Al's father had spread the word that Al had activated his Weapon Master Blessing. Al confesses that he, upon wielding the sword, felt like he wanted to become a Champion like Rit. However, Al asks Red if he thinks that thought was an artificial one induced by his Weapon Master Blessing. Red tells Al some advice he received from Theodora, the spear-wielder of the Hero's party: ask your weapon what it wants to do; does your weapon wants to simply kill people or to protect people?

It is now well into night. Rit throws a cloaked man off a roof. Rit says she had been hunting him for days and thanks him for being easier than she thought to catch. Rit claims a small bag the man was holding. The man looks up Rit's skirt while she has her boot on his chest and lewdly grins before magically exploding. Covered in gore, Rit is ambushed by three armed people. Rit doesn't draw her weapon but instead disables them with martial arts. Rit is saved by Danan.

Danan reveals he was looking to retrieve Gideon on the Hero's orders but has decided not to, given that Gideon (Red) has found a peaceful life for himself. However, Danan reveals Rit's attackers were stalker demons. Rit says the man she threw off a roof and who exploded was a drug dealer, probably of the Thieves' Guild. Danan doesn't want to reveal his presence to Red so he tells Rit he is staying at an inn in Southmarsh. As Rit leaves for the Apothecary, Danan grins evilly.

Rit returns to Red. Red asks Rit to analyze the sword Al received from Bighawk. Rit reveals the sword blade is crimson steel, the hilt is ebony, and was made by a swordsmith in the Island Kingdom of Igos. Rit detects a Locate spell has been cast on the sword. Red wonders why Bighawk wants to keep tabs on Al's location. Rit tells Red she is worried that their quiet life together will soon be disrupted.

Red, Rit, and Al visit Mogrim's weapon shop.

Outside the shop, Red finds Maya and Keith (Baltakatei: two previously unnamed adventurers) looking on at a protest against the townsguard for harboring Ademi, the child the town suspects committed attacks; Maya laments that the attacks themselves are going uninvestigated due to the town guards having to monitor the protests. Both Maya and Keith are upset seeing Oliver (Baltakatei: Also unnamed until now) a fellow adventurer joining in with the protestors. Red prmises to talk with Oliver next time Oliver visits the Apothecary.

The Hero's party (Ruti, Theodora, Tisse, and Ares) are running in some dungeon when they are attacked by a gargantuan demon. While fighting the demon, Ruti thinks about how Gideon believed the demons were compelled by the Almighty Demis to act evilly similar to how her own people were compelled to fight by their own Blessings. Ruti warns Ares that she and Theodora won't go as far to protect Ares like she protected her brother Gideon in battle. Ares blames Danan and Yarandrala for Ruti's hostile behavior. After the demon is slain, Tisse returns to the group informing them she has found something. Ares vocally hopes Tisse found the previous Demon Lord's weapon that can be used to slay the current Demon Lord's army. Instead, Tisse shows the party an airship parked in an area with a retractable roof. The part boards the Airship and take flight. Tisse asks Ruti where she wants to go; Ruti says she can't go where she wants to until she is no longer the Hero.

S1, E8: The Man Who Would Be a Hero

Red and Rit try out a double bed. They flirt with one another but are too scared to have sex; they use a noise made by Al as an excuse to not take things further.

Rit equips Al's crimson blade and appears at a place where Al had been invited. Dir and some others discover that Rit had arrived disguised as Al and engage her in battle. Rit disables everyone quickly except for an axe-wielding man who she recognizes as a demon. Meanwhile, the monocle-wearing minion of Bighawk visits the Apothecary which has a townsguard assigned to protect Al. However, the townsguard simply lets monocle-man in, betraying Al. Monocle brags that they've outmaneuvered Rit; Al attempts to fight Monocle but is quickly restrained by another one of Bighawk's men. Monocle announces that he plans to convert Al into a Hero of Southmarsh. Al is taken to Bighaawk who was raised in the Duchy of Daikan's slums. Said boss monologues to Al that he plans to take over Zoltan using the new drug called "Devil's Blessing" which is manufactured from hearts of axe demons. Bighawk says the drug allows people to adopt a second Blessing so they are not bound by their birth Blessing; Bighawk justifies his actions due to his birth blessing being Master Torturer which he regrets disadvantages him for life. Bighawk reveals he has been sheltering Ademi.

Bighawk then presents Ademi and Al to the public where he announces that the Townsguard have been sheltering Ademi and now, Al, whose parents were attacked by Ademi, will execute Ademi. Al is pressured into killing Ademi with Blackhawk attempting to trigger his Blessing to see Ademi as a hostile for attacking Al's parents; however, Al fights the urge and instead uses the sword he was given to instead cut Ademis's bonds. Bighawk and his men respond by giving Ademi an axe which triggers Ademi into equipping it and attacking Al. Red then reveals he was disguised as one of Bighawk's men, disables Ademi, and then picks up and runs off with both Al and Ademi. Red gives Ademi a tonic that suppresses Blessing urges; Red mentions that The Church frowns upon use of the tonic. Bui then appears; Red identifies Bui as the person who has been lending aid to Rit. Red entrusts Al and Ademi to Bui.

Red then enters into combat against Albert who apparently is now acting under orders of Bighawk to attack Red. Red identifies the weapon Albert is using as a demon weapon. Red notices Bighawk is present, and so asks why Bighawk is here. Bighawk says that he actually isn't Bighawk but a possessed puppet of a contract demon who has decided to use Bighawk's body to make themselves king of Zoltan; Bighawk had wished upon the demon to be ruler of Zoltan and so, the demon possessed Bighawk as a means to achieve that end, albeit killing Bighawk in the process. Red sympathizes a bit with the demon, stating that the backwater lazy town of Zoltan appoints its leaders by seniority, not talent, and therefore the contract demon would have had a difficult time undermining local authority within a short timescale.

Albert agrees with the contract demon, stating that they despite the fact that they are trapped in Zoltan, unable to get the local populace to do anything quickly or competently; Albert is disgusted that the local populace is unable to deal with minor creatures such as Owl Bears without his direct involvement; Albert says he wishes to become a Hero and so has forged a contract with a demon in order to accelerate his ambitions. Albert monologues to Red for a few minutes, inviting Red to join him on a mission to convert Zoltan into a military force powerful enough to conquer the Demon Lord; while he monologues, the local townsguards under the command of the Adventurer's Guild leader to surrounds Albert's position. Albert then attacks Red, wishing to at least be slain by someone worthy of a Hero's title; Red promptly cuts off his right sword-bearing hand. Red laments that he thought of Albert as a the Hero of Zoltan.

Bui takes Al and Ademi to the mob of Zoltan villagers who Bighawk was rallying to stage a coup of local leaders. Al and Ademi publicly forgive one another and promise to be friends and play together. The mob loses its enthusiasm and disperses.

Red and Rit bathe together. Rit sneaks her naked body to snuggle up against Red. Red turns Rit around so he can hug her by her breasts and hold her close to himself. Rit speculates that Red could have joined forces with Albert and eventually joined the Hero's party, proving himself in the eyes of Ares who might allow him back into the Hero's party. Red is unsure of whether he would have rejected Albert had the offer been made when he first arrived at Zoltan; Red states that he knows others can help the Hero but that Rit is with him there and then. Red nuzzles Rit's ear to whisper his declaration of love for her and wish to live with her.

Meanwhile, the contract demon, inhabiting the body of Bighawk, waits in a dungeon while restrained. A townsguard lets in Bui who addresses the demon by the demon's true name, Belial. Bighawk realizes that the person shown to be Bui is actually Shisandan, the demon that killed Gaius, Rit's master. Belial abandons Bighawk's body, reverting into his goat-like humanoid form and busts Albert out of jail, offering to help him fulfill an earlier contract he made to defeat the Demon Lord; Albert agrees without motivation like he has nothing else better to do with his life.

Later, Al is saying goodbye to Red and Rit. Al has joined a D-rank adventurer party with Ria.

The Hero's party has landed in the desert. There, Albert and Belial confront the Hero, Ruti, in a tense but orderly meeting.

S1, E9: Days of Peace and Ease

The airship with Ruti and Tisse aboard leave Ares and Theodora behind. Theodora finds the Hero's Badge lying next to the body of Belial.

Bui reports to the adventurer's guild in Zoltan the completion of a quest involving slaying bladesharks. Nearby, Maya, Keith, and Oliver comment that the new adventurer, Bui, is more likely to be a Hero than they are.

Tisse remembers assassinating a dude. Then, while piloting the airship, realizes she has lately been more an airship pilot than an assassin. Ruti remembers talking to Belial who claimed to not want to go to war with humans. Belial explains the drug he was giving the Zoltan populace weakens one's Blessing by temporarily converting an innate Blessing level into a Devil's Blessing; since an innate blessing level doesn't increase unless one slays a creature with an equal or greater blessing, temporarily decreasing one's innate blessing level permits leveling up a temporarily decreased innate blessing; levels gained while an innate Blessing levels are temporarily Devil Blessing levels are restacked on top of the original innate Blessings when they return to normal from being a Devil Blessing. Ruti simply focuses on the side effect that the drug weakens one's innate Blessing, presumably because Ruti resents the influence her Blessing of the Hero has on suppressing her personality.

Back on the airship and in the present, Ruti tells Tisse that she wants a steady supply of the drug. Ruti asks Tisse for help in blending in as a traveler in Zoltan where she plans to use the drug to suppress her Hero's Blessing so she can blend in with the normal populace. Tisse, master of maintaining control of her outward appearance, internally is panicking at the prospect of Ruti being able to blend in as a normal person.

Red laments that the cold weather is bad for business. Red asks for business ideas. Red voices his idea about a hand warmer, although reluctant to deploy it since Rit had warned him about the potion multiplying potion. Rit gives the hand warming product approval Red goes about and sells hand warmers to the people of Zoltan. Later that night, Red and Rit share a handwarmer and a kiss out in the snow on a bench.

Ruti and Tisse arrive in Zoltan. Tisse proposes aliases: Ruti adopts the name Ruhr and Tisse the name Tifa. Ruti interrupts Tisse's planning explanation to borrow an absurdly large weapon from some nearby goblins. Tisse asks if Ruti killed the Goblins; Ruti says she healed some sick Goblins and received the large weapon as a reward.

Ruhr and Tifa approach an entrance to Zoltan: a bridge manned by a troublemaker posing as a townsguard named Otto who requires 100 perills as a toll. Tifa proposes they bypass the bridge but Ruhr insists on crossing at the bridge. Ruhr throws Otto off the bridge into the water. Otto later tries to guard another bridge against crossing by Red without a fight. Otto admits he lost his armor and weapons after a girl threw him off a bridge yet still wishes to fight Red; Red throws him off the bridge (different from the one Otto lost his armor from) and Otto loses his underwear.

Ruhr slays a large (likely several metric tons) amphibian and presents it at the entrance to a settlement. Tifa plans to scout the area.

Red and a townsguard meet while the townsguard is closing a gate for the night. The two go to a late-night food stand operated by Oparara. Tifa takes a seat next to Red at the food cart. Tifa and Red silently analyze one another's outfits and physical builds, recognizing eachother as formidable fighters.

Tifa returns to a town inn and debriefs Ruhr about the alchemist they were seeking to secure a supply of the Devil's Blessing powder (?); Tifa also mentions the presence of a powerful individual who may have detected her own hidden weapons; Tifa does not realize that this individual was Red, a.k.a. Gideon, the person Ruhr (a.k.a. Ruti) had sent Danan to retrieve.

The next morning, a Dragon fairy asks Red and Ruti in the Apothecary for assistance.

Elsewhere, Ruhr sits conspicuously on a park bench near the prison where the alchemist she seeks is being held. She hallucinates Gideon giving her advice for how to free the alchemist (how many people staff the prison? How are they scheduled?). Ruhr regrets that she doesn't know where Gideon is since, under the influence of the drug she is taking, she can talk more freely than with her Hero's Blessing at full capacity.

Elsewhere, Red and Ruti follow the dragon fairy to the home of an archfay undine near Zoltan; the undine complains of heart trouble; Red diagnoses the undine with a spiritual weakness that may be ameliorated by medicines he can provide. He believes the weakness is not a sickness but likely a curse sapping individuals with spiritual power; Red says the curse has the same effect as the Nightmare spell. The undine believes a powerful individual has entered the region. Red prescribes a drug that will prevent dreaming and, therefore, mitigate the effect of the curse. Rit suspects a recent cold-like sickness that has affected locals of Zoltan may be connected to what affects the undine.

At the prison, a loud vibration is felt. Monocle, apparently the alchemist sought by Ruhr, is surprised. Tifa identifies Monocle as "Godwin". Ruhr asks Godwin to make Devil's Blessing. Godwin agrees provided Ruti stops looking directly at him. Godwin is tied up near the docks of Zoltan.

Tifa wakes up in the inn next to Ruhr who didn't sleep. Ruhr wishes to heal Godwin without using Healing Hands, a Hero's Blessing ability. Tifa recommends use of a popular Alchemist who makes Loggervia hand warmers.

In the Apothecary, Gonz asks Red for some more handwarmers. Tifa enters and recognizes Red as the formidable man she ate dinner with at the food cart. Ruhr (a.k.a. Ruti) identifies Gideon (a.k.a. Red), her older brother.

S1, E10: Saving the Hero

Ruhr identifies Red as her older brother and hugs him enthusiastically. Tifa identifies Red as Gideon. Gonz voices confusion at someone calling Red by the name Gideon. Gonz leaves. Red reassures Tifa that Gonz won't pry into Red's private business after Tifa expresses concern that news that Red has a little sister may spread. Tifa introduces herself as Tisse, someone who joined the Hero's party after Gideon left. Red (a.k.a. Gideon) tells Ruti (a.k.a. Ruhr) that he now lives with a princess of Loggervia by the name of Rizlet. Ruti identifies the princess as Rit. Red tells Ruti that the plan between he and Ares was that Ares would tell Ruti that Gideon left the party to scout the Demon Lord's army. Ruti says Ares told Ruti that Gideon had fled. Ruti understands that Ares lied and invites Gideon back into the party, saying she can kick Ares out, and that Ares has failed to take up the burden Gideon had been carrying while in the party. Ruti says Danan had left the party to search for Gideon and that Yarandrala had left the party because she thought Ares killed Gideon. Red apologizes to Ruti, saying he's found a new life in Zoltan. Ruti announces she will now live in the town, surprising everyone present. Rit returns.

Later, Rit, Ruti, Red, and Tisse have tea together. Ruti says she was visiting Zoltan partly to find Gideon and partly to find someone else who can help defeat the Demon Lord. Red reassures Rit that he's going to stay with Rit to help run the shop. Ruti reassures Rit that she won't ask Red to leave Zoltan since Ruti has decided to stay in Zoltan as well. Rit is surprised. Rit announces she must return to the inn near town to fix something.

After leaving, Ruti collapses. She regrets saying that she would stay in the town. Ruti consumes more of the Demon's Blessing powder to repress her Blessing.

Tisse checks Gideon who, upon learning Ruti will be staying in the town for longer, becomes upset at the likely possibility that he will be found by the local guard and executed for escaping prison. Tisse asks Ruti for resources to build a laboratory for Gideon so he may begin manufacturing more Devil's Blessing for Ruti. Ruti plans to inspect some nearby Elven ruins; Tisse proposes using the ruins as a base of operations. Ruti moves to pet Tisse's pet spider, Mr. Crawly Wawly (うげうげさん) but Tisse misinterprets the movement as a hostile move to hurt Mr. Crawly Wawly, and so draws her sword and positions herself to defend him. Ruti, unable to show emotion, pauses. Tisse realizes that Ruti is incapable of subtle communications of intent and so her movement to interact with Mr. Crawly Wawly may have simply been to pet him. Tisse verbally confirms with Ruti that Ruti intended to pet Mr. Crawly Wawly; Tisse asks that Ruti verbally ask next time; Tisse lets Ruti touch Mr. Crawly Wawly. Tisse considers herself as a friend of Ruti.

Somewhere else, Bui searches for ancient elf ruins. He has a jeweled heart-shaped artifact that apparently recently failed to collect energy due to someone realizing a curse associated with the artifact was detected.

Back at the Apothecary, Ruti greets some customers with an intimidating grin (with the onomatopoeic word 「ニヤリ」(hep: niyari) used to describe the sound or action of grinning or smirking, indicating that Ruti has a creepy or unsettling grin or smirk on her face; the customers flee in terror. Red proposes he take Ruti to visit the town. Red proposes taking Ruti to visit the Sauna. Zeff is terrified by Ruti but is reassured by Red; Zeff says the past life and Blessings of people are nothing of his business. Ruti takes a bath (amazing some child at her ability to dry herself off).

Somewhere in the ocean on a boat, a crazed Ares announces (with the help of some blood spattered on the ground) to Theodora and Albert, that he has located Ruti ("at or near the Wall at the World's End"). Theodora heals Albert. Albert asks if he has been helpful. Theodora says that Albert has helped them locate the Hero. Theodora offers to buy Albert a prosthetic hand. Albert voices his confusion that Red was powerful enough to become a Hero yet did not choose to become one. Theodora repeats a Church doctrine that "We must live a life suited to our Blessing". Theodora explains that people are more than their Blessing since they have free will capable of prioritizing their own lives, dreams, and futures; having a Blessing does not mean they must shape their lives to maximize the benefit of their blessing; Albert asks if not maximizing the use of their Blessing would be a waste and offend the Almighty. Theodora asks a rhetorical question: why did the Almighty give people free will? Theodora confesses that she continues to be unable to answer that question to her satisfaction.

Meanwhile, at the Apothecary, Red serves Tisse and Ruti milk and honey. Ruti asks to take a bath with Red; Red politely refuses on grounds that bathing together at their age is no longer appropriate; Ruti asks to bathe with Rit who agrees, albeit with some noticeable unspoken reservations. Tisse enthusiastically asks to also join the bath, proudly producing for inspection a bathing log she maintains which has earned her the nickname "Bath Critic" among other Assassin Guild members. Naked and in a bath, Tisse rates the bath 4 stars.

Ruti shares a story in which she was younger and was pressured into helping save a lost child by her Blessing. During the fight where she is brutally and repeatedly injured, Ruti remembers losing the will to live for any reason except to continue to see her brother. Ruti confesses that although most of her present feelings and sensations are repressed by her Blessing, a loophole exists regarding strong past experiences; since Ruti had many positive experiences with her older brother Gideon in the past, he is the only person she feels strongly about in the present. Ruti confesses to Rit that she felt envious being free to display emotions to Gideon and grow closer to him during the times in Loggervia when Gideon and Rit fought together. Ruti confesses that she does not want to be the Hero. Ruti cries which shocks Tisse and Rit who cry in sympathy. With some prompting by Mr. Crawly Wawly, Tisse internally vows to try and help save the Hero; Tisse and Rit share unspoken expressions as if they both were in agreement to save the Hero.

S1, E11: A Gathering of Champions

Rit tells Red about Ruti. REd is thankful that Tisse is Ruti's friend. Tisse decides to tell Red and Rit what she knows of Ruti. Red is surprised that a contract demon approached Ruti. Rit is worried that Ruti may be affected by negative side effects of the Devil's Blessing drug. Red says he believes Ruti's Hero's Blessing should give her immunity to the side effects such as addiction, provided that her innate Blessing isn't weakened too much. Red proposes talking to Gideon who is being held at some ancient elf ruins. Tisse is worried that Ruti will find out that Godwin found out that Ruti broke Godwin out of prison and tells Red to reassure Ruti that Red is okay with this. Red says he isn't one to judge Ruti's actions. Tisse says she must acquire alchemical equipment for Gideon. Red and Rit propose renting drakes to visit the port to acquire materials.

Ares, Theodora, and a bandaged Albert arrive at the port. Ares, looking grubby, unshaven, haggard, and menacing, storms off to find an inn. Albert is worried he may be identified by locals due to his status as an escaped prisoner from Zoltan; Theodra reassures him that his bandages magically divert attention away from him. Bui (or, rather, Shisandan possessing Bui's corpse) seems to recognize Ares as someone important as they coincidentally walk nearby. Nearby, Red finds a shop selling alchemical equipment but is interrupted by a one-armed Danan. Theodora and Albert who are also nearby cloak their presence with magic and follow Red and Danan to a nearby restaurant where Red and Danan eat a meal. Danan reassures Red that Red should never have left. Red regrets to tell Danan that Red cannot return since Red left of his own free will. Danan pledges to stay in Zoltan for now. Red shares that Ruti is in Zoltan; Red communicates that Ruti has been suffering due to her Hero's Blessing. Danan doesn't know what to do, except work to help the Hero in her trouble. Elsewhere, Ares is brooding in an inn when they answer the door to a two-armed Danan who claims Gideon is running an Apothecary nearby; two-armed Gideon is surprised that Hero Ruti is not with Ares. Two-armed Danan shares with Ares that Gideon has moved in with Princess Rizlet of Loggervia; Ares immediately concludes that Gideon has maliciously outmaneuvered him in order to marry into a royal family while Ares risks his life traveling with the Hero. Ares immediately announces that he will force Gideon into abandoning Ruti and demands Danan take him to Gideon's (a.k.a. Red's) apothecary.

Ares trashes the Apothecary.

Red and Danan dash across the landscape when Red pauses their journey to clarify with Danan that Shisandan lives. Danan says he had been attacked by Shisandan on a ship while journeying near local port, getting his right hand bitten off and thrown into the sea. Danan survived and washed up near the local port. Red thought Ruti defeated Shisandan by stabbing him through the heart. Red and Danan see Bui and 2-hand Danan fly on a summoned spirit drake towards the mountains where the Hero went.

Red runs into Rit and Tisse travelling on reptile mounts. Red explains that Danan is following him. Rit confesses she talked to Danan nearby some time ago; Red asks if Rit noticed anything different about Danan; Rit said she didn't noticing anything too different; Red says Danan got his right hand bitten off by Shisandan. After some discussion, Rit decides she will become Rit the Champion again for the sake of killing Shisandan who killed her master, Gaius; Red promises to partner with her to defeat Shisandan.

Red enters a technological dungeon. Red finds a destroyed elevator mechanism; he regrets that Ruti may have destroyed it in haste. Red finds Gideon. Red tortures Gideon to cause him to shout in order to lure Ruti to protect Gideon. Ruti explosively arrives through a wall but stops short of impaling Red upon recognizing him. Somewhere else in the technological dungeon, Red confesses that he had been spending his time away from the Hero's party searching for a medicine that could curb the impulses of the Hero's Blessing but had, so far, been unsuccessful. Ruti thought Gideon had trained with her because he wanted to save the world despite not being forced to like she was by her Blessing. Red confesses that he simply wanted to be able to protect Ruti. Ruti, confused, asks why, since she, as a Hero, doesn't need protection. Red replies that he simply wants to protect Ruti on her journey; if that journey changes so that she doesn't want to fulfill the role of Hero, he's also okay with that. Ruti asks for confirmation; Ruti asks Red not to hate her for being selfish by not wanting to be what the world expects of her (to be the Hero).

Elsewhere, Ares is frantically searching for the ruins so he can find Ruti. 2-hand Danan (a.k.a. Shisandan) is amused by Ares and trickle-feeds Ares information about Ruti's location, saying the elf ruin is probably underground.

Elsewhere, 1-hand Danan (the real Danan) is spotted running on the ground by Theodora and Albert riding a flying mount. They land to talk to Danan who recognizes them.

In the tech elf dungeon, Tisse and Rit reunite with Red and Ruti. Red says Gideon must find out from Gideon how demon hearts were required to make the Devil's Blessing. Ruti confirms that the contract demon said demon hearts are needed to make Devil's Blessing. Ruti says that she feels a nameless impulseless Blessing within her. Later, Gideon denies knowing about a nameless blessing. He says that the drug causes an Axe Demon's Blessing to appear; if no violent impulse manifests, then he doesn't know what the nameless blessing is. The group (Red, Rit, Ruti) are attacked by Plague Eyes; Red believes the monsters were sent to scout their location. Ruti impulsively destroys the monsters with Lightning of Judgement and runs towards their origin direction. Red orders Rit and Tisse to follow at a distance and protect Gideon.

Ruti and Red find the source of the monsters is Ares. Ares monologues about how Ruti and he must defeat the Demon Lord alone and together. Ruti announces that her journey with Ares is over and that she had decided to stop being the Hero and live with Gideon. Ares interprets this as meaning that Ruti has been guilt tripped by Gideon to pause her mission as Hero to protect weak Gideon who lacks a Blessing as strong as Ares to protect himself. Therefore, Ares decides to free Ruti of the responsibility of protecting Gideon by murdering Gideon with a wind blast. Ruti stabs Ares with a non-fatal wound and tells him she is no longer the Hero and will not heal him since he can heal himself. Ruti then heals Red and the two leave Ares behind, screaming incoherently. Nearby, 2-hand Danan transforms into Bui.

Ares is approached by Bui, who offers to heal Ares but Ares heals himself. Ares identifies Bui as an asura demon, a creature lacking a Blessing. Bui offers Ares guidance to a relic of the First Hero which, when given to Ruti, will force her to return to Ares. Ares, of course, is fanatically interested.

S1, E12: A Parting of Ways

Bui leads Ares in the tech elf dungeon. Ares reminisces seeing Ruti for the first time. Ares wishes to help Ruti because her Blessing of the Hero is the only one he recognizes as more powerful than his Blessing of the Sage.

Elsewhere, Red, Rit, Tisse, Ruti, and Gideon discuss the situation. Tisse shares intel that Ares is accompanied by someone attempting to hide their presence with magic. Red and Rit conclude that Ares is likely being assisted by Shisandan. Red tells Ruti that they must fight Shisandan since Shisandan is a threat to Ares and others.

Elsewhere in the elf dungeon, Theodora, 1-hand Danan, and Albert travel, searching for Ruti. Theodora asks Danan to act how he feels. Danan is confused but reiterates that he does what he always does: do what he thinks is right and let others do what they think is right. Danan then runs ahead, busting down doors by force.

Elsewhere, in a well-lit auditorium, Bui (Shisandan) and Ares enter. An open coffin with a sword is present in the room. Suddenly, Danan busts in from an upper wall, grabs the sword, and throws it at Bui who blocks it. Bui notices his movement is now impaired; regardless, Bui charges to attack Danan who dodges and slugs Bui across the room. Danan attacks Bui again with a Dragontail Fist, followed by a Jotaro Joestar-style ora-ora-ora-ora-ora attack. Bui calls for help from Ares. Ares fires a Gargantuan Storm Javelin at Danan, allowing Bui to stab Danan and cause an explosion within Danan's body. Danan survives and remains able to fight, forcing Bui to transform into their 6-armed horn-headed native Shisandan form (Baltakatei: resembling Gilgamesh from Final Fantasy V). Danan destroys several of Shisandan's blades using only his left hand (the only hand he possesses). Despite this, Shisandan kills Danan by stabbing him with a sword fragment held by a foot.

Shisandan uses the heart-shaped crystal-appearing artifact to perform some authentication operation with a door in the auditorium involving status holograms being projected. Shisandan opens a door into a room with a large tube filled with some pulsing organic tube. Shisandan opens a safe containing 5 swords (filling 5 of 6 slots) resembling the Hero's Demon Slaying sword. Shisandan says the First Hero wielded many such swords and that the Hero's current sword is a copy. Shisandan claims the swords were owned by the Almighty. Shisandan calls the 5 swords "True Avengers" or "Sacred Avenger". Shisandan claims the Hero is also a copy in that she contains the soul of the first Hero, copied by the Almighty. Shisandan claims that giving Ruti one of the Sacred Avengers will force her to will to submit to the Hero's Blessing's impulses against the Devil's Blessing's influence, provided Ruti loses what maintains her desire to not completely become the Hero, which Ares identifies as Gideon.

Red, Rit, Ruti, Tisse, and Gideon enter a large room in the tech elf dungeon. Ruti gives Red his sword, Waking Thunder. A door opens revealing Gaius. Rit immediately attacks, revealing Gaius was an illusion and defends herself against an attack from a cloaked Shisandan. Red and Rit attack Shisandan. Ares attacks Gideon with a ranged AOE fire attack named Paralyzing Flame. Ruti casts Sacred Magic Shield on Red, protecting him and Rit. Ruti offers Ares a chance to surrender. Ares casts Gargantuan Storm Javelin at Ruti who casts Ruti Sacred Punisher in return. Gideon attempts to flee but a dragon prevents his escape, attacking GIdeon; before the dragon can harm Gideon, Tisse impales the dragon's left eye with a blade throw.

In the auditorium where Danan fell, somehow Danan is still alive and is healed by a potion offered by Albert. Theodora is with Albert.

Ares thinks of how he can get Ruti to touch the Sacred Avenger in order to permit the Hero Blessing to take over her body completely. Ruti casts Martial Art Great Whirlwind with her sword at Ares and the dragon, killing the dragon. Shisandan survives but the sword Danan threw at them is destroyed; Ares' Sacred Avenger is destroyed.

Theodora arrives on the scene and restrains Rit with Holy Chains, disabling Rit. Theodora then attacks Ruti. Theodora says Ruti must be sacrificed. Ruti asks why Ruti must sacrifice herself for others as Hero. Theodora says Ruti must because sacrificing yourself is the Almighty's will. Theodora's red dragon mount crushes Rit. Theodora then says that if Ruti doesn't return to her role as hero, Rit will die. Rit then bursts free of the dragon and kicks it to death, despite being disabled by Theodora's chains. When Rit says Theodora has no right to hold Rit hostage in order to force Ruti to remain in her role as Hero, Theodora claims Rit, as princess of Loggervia, relied upon the Hero to save Loggervia from the Demon Lord's army, and therefore, Ruti must remain the hero. Rit disagrees, saying that it wasn't the Hero, the Crusader, or the Guide that saved Loggervia, but Ruti, Theodora, and Gideon (i.e., the Blessings didn't save Loggervia, but those that wielded the Blessings). Theodora claims the Blessing and the person are the same. Rit violently disagrees. Rit says the Hero is much more than a Blessing type but a person first and a dwelling for the Blessing of the Hero second. Rit says Loggervia was saved by Theodora, Ruti, and Gideon working to inspire people like Rit to fight for Loggervia. Theodora says she is merely a tool of the Almighty who cannot question their role, even if they want to complain. Rit says the Almighty is wrong to force the burden of determining the fate of the world upon people who don't want that burden regardless of whether they are a god or not.

Shinsandan agrees with Rit.

Theodora's dragon moves to kill Rit. Red kills the dragon. Ares casts Iron Wall to create a large block thrown to crush both Red and Rit. The block causes the elevator Red and Rit were in to fall down its shaft. Ruti moves to save Red but Theodora blocks her movement. Ruti slashes Theodora, deeply wounding her from hip to shoulder; Ruti did not make it to Red's side in time to retrieve him from the elevator. Dust clears and Ares concludes that he has finally killed Red. Ares casts Tornado Cutter to kill Tisse. Ares tells Tisse that Ruti can only be happy if she fulfills her role as Hero in order to sacrifice herself for the benefit of others. Before she loses consciousness due to blood loss, Tisse tells Ares that Ruti is just a normal girl who wants to fall in love; Ares does not deserve to determine Ruti's future. Ares laughs maniacally.

Gideon throws something at Ares and says that, as a villain, they despise a villain who doesn't think they're a villain. Ares then attacks Gideon and crushes Mr. Crawly Wawly.

Red and Rit are in near free-fall within the falling elevator. At the bottom of the shaft, Danan declares that despite him not knowing what the Hero is thinking, knows he must not let Gideon and Rit die, so he casts Martial Art: Rising Dragon's Roar to cast an updraft to push Red and Rit back into the battle with Ares. Ares casts some AOE lightning magic at Red who charges at Ares; Rit casts some protective magic on Red at the cost of suffering AOE damage. Ares suffers a crowd control attack by Mr. Crawly Wawly who has attached spider threads to their body, hindering movement. Red slices off both hands of Ares and slashes their body with a mortal wound. Ares dies cursing Red.

Elsewhere, in a flaming part of the dungeon, Ruti and Shisandan fight. Ruti lies on the ground wondering how she ended up in her current situation when her only desire was to live peacefully with her brother. Shisandan declares that he must kill Ruti in the name of Asura. Ruti parries Shisandan's attack. Shisandan insists that Ruti must become the Hero because that is what humanity and the Almight expect. Ruti destroys three of the four remaining Sacred Avenger swords with melee attacks. Ruti then picks up a remaining Sacred Avenger in order to completely slice up Shisandan's body. Shisandan regrets dying but is satisfied that they at least were able to get Ruti to wield a Sacred Avenger, the sword that will give the soul of the Hero a chance to fully overcome her will and personality.

Back at the battlefield of Ares, Red provides potion to Theodora to save her life. Gideon asks why Red would save Theodora. Red insists that Theodora is a friend. Gideon remains confused. Red says he doesn't want his sister to have the burden of knowing her brother killed her friend, Theodora.

Ruti returns to the battlefield of Ares. Red moves to welcome Ruti who attacks Red. Tisse blocks Ruti's attack with her body, killing Tisse.

S1, E13: The Guide

Red tells Rit to tend to Tisse. Ruti attacks Red, nearly destroying his sword. Red unequips his lightning sword and instead equips his bronze sword which he uses in a self-destructive fashion to temporarily immobilize Ruti's sword (essentially allowing Ruti to cleave the bronze sword length-wise, absorbing the impact via the bronze's softer nature instead of cracking suddenly as was the case with the harder yet more brittle lightning sword); once the kinetic energy of the Sacred Avenger's slash had been dissipated, Red pulls Ruti's sword out of her grip, breaking the sword's influence on her.

Ruti wakes up. After some time she runs into Red's arms, crying. Danan and Albert arrive via another elevator. Albert rushes to Theodora's side, worried for her. Rit announces that Tisse's wound is beyond her healing power. Ruti goes to use her Hero's Blessing abilities to heal Tisse but finds her Hero's blessing is disabled. Theodora heals Tisse with Regenerate. Theodora monologues about how she knew Ruti needed no assistance. Theodora admits that she accompanied Ruti to help anyways despite knowing the role of Hero was a cruel one for the Hero. Ruti tells Theodora that Ruti never desired to be the Hero. Theodora wishes for Ruti to strike her down since Theodora worked against the Hero's choice not to be the Hero, insisting Ruti save the world despite what Ruti herself wanted. Albert interrupts, saying he wanted to be a Hero but didn't realize that saving the world was a demanding role; Albert declares Theodora was a Hero, fighting for what she believed was right, despite struggling to identify what was right. Albert begs for Theodora's life.

Tisse regains consciousness and is thanksful Ruti is unharmed. Ruti apologizes. Ruti declares she wants to live as Ruti, not the Hero. Ruti says that Theodora is more appropriate to be a Hero. Red says a real hero will never feel lonely. Red says a Hero wants to save the world of their own free will; additionally, being a Hero does not require physical strength since a Hero's strength is their "strength of purpose" which gives others courage to fight. Theodora asks if she can become a Guide like Red. Red says that Theodora will if she wants to.

Back at the Apothecary Red complains that Ares made a mess of the shop. Tisse and Ruti return to the Apothecary; Ruti is falling ill to a cold, although she is eager to experience having a cold, having lived for so long with the Hero's Blessing bolstering her constitution. Ruti is dressed without her Hero's armor, appearing more like a civilian with less skin showing.

Red, Rit, Tisse, and Ruti eat pizza in the Apothecary. Ruti enjoys the taste. Red speaks in an aside to explain that Ruti received a new blessing that they call "New Truth" which has a powerful skill called Ruler which can control other Blessings. She uses it to control her own Hero's Blessing. Red asks about Ruti's future plans and Ruti says she still plans to find a nearby farm to purchase in order to grow medicinal herbs; Tisse vows to assist Ruti however she can. Ruti says she'll return by the time of the evening funeral. Rit says she'll take care of the shop.

Later, at the church, a priest holds a funeral ceremony for Ares. Red talks in an aside about how the Church teaches that after death, every person receives a new Divine Blessing; Red hopes that Ares will be free from the powerful Sage Blessing in his next life (Baltakatei: presumably because the Sage Blessing induced Ares to be such a jerk).

Later, at the Church's exterior footsteps, Danan bids farewell to Red and Ruti, Danan says his main skill is fighting. Before he leaves, Danan shares a discussion with Red about a puzzle: why was Shisandan, a demon, capable of wielding holy swords meant to slay the Demon Lord? Ruti says Theodora thought the holy sword (singular) was a relic of the first Hero, yet they saw five more. Red believes one holy sword remains missing. Red knows that Shisandan was an Asura demon who are known to have no Blessings. There were six holy swords in total. Red speculates that the First Hero took one holy sword for themselves. Tisse states that Shisandan had six arms. Red speculates that Demis, creator of Divine Blessings, changed the Hero's meaning (Baltakatei: 2023-03-25: Going on a limb here, but I think Red is suggesting the six holy swords were originally wielded by what he knows as an Asura demon; later Demis changed or created the Blessing of Hero in order to bind the person wielding the holy swords to the soul of the hero.). Red says he believes the First Hero would have respected Ruti's wish to not be the Hero.

Gonz and Mido help Red and Rit fix up the Apothecary. Rit voices worries after seeing their bed destroyed that Red will leave someday to guide someone else. Red insists that his Guide Blessing isn't that strong. Rit agrees that Red is not his Blessing but people depend upon him, wielder of the Blessing. Rit is worried after seeing the bed, a symbol of Red's commitment to her, destroyed, that Red will someday leave. Red reaffirms that being with Rit is his objective. Red admits that his Blessing is to take in people who need help until they are able to grow to live independently; however, Red says Rit is an exception in that he wants to remain with Rit.

Later that night, Red and Rit tickle and undress one another in bed. Red shares his vision of a life with children and grandchildren together with Rit.

The next morning, Red greets Ruti. They decide to explore the port town. Ruti picks out an ornament. They encounter Gideon selling goods but Gideon flees upon seeing them. On a riverside, Ruti expresses happiness at making new friends in the town. Ruti asks if Red can stay with her forever. Red promises to stay with her forever.

Various minor characters are shown during the closing credits.

At the Apothecary, Ruti, dressed again in her Hero's outfit (Baltakatei: Probably because it is warm enough to be comfortable in), hugs Red's left arm, compelling Rit to hug Red's right arm as they stare eachother down in mock jealousy. Tisse comments that she doesn't know how to react in such situations.

A guildmaster employee arrives to request help from Red; ogres have captured adventurers sent to deal with them. Ruti decides for herself to provide assistance; Ruti equips the large sword she received from healing some goblins (in S1E9).

Later, Gideon drinks with Yarandrala who seems to be collecting information about Zoltan. Gideon asserts that Zoltan is a dreary backwater town with no value except that it is the perfect place to live a slow peaceful life.
