Class of '09 (franchise)

Class of '09 is a self-described “rejection simulator” in contrast to a dating simulator, a class of visual novel that it resembles in most aspects except purpose: the video game explores the negative consequences of parental neglect and mismanagement of high schools in the United States.

The main character of the first game is Nicole, a teenager whom the player must guide through a gauntlet of hazards such as teacher pedophilia, drug addiction, teen drinking, cult indoctrination (white nationalism), suicide, self-harm, stalking, and rape. Overcoming the overwhelming odds stacked against her successful graduation and survival often requires the player to choose ruthlessly self-interested actions that empower Nicole to manipulate her world-be manipulators.
